was founded in 1998 by the cornettist Hans-Jakob Bollinger. The name il desiderio is borrowed from a writing by Ercole Bottrigari. This theoretical treatise explicates not only the music of the emerging Early Baroque period but also the way in which wind and string instruments are played. Il desiderio itself means “the yearning“, “the desire“. A passion for this virtuoso and lyrical music of the emerging Baroque is what drives the ensemble.
